2-28-07: HITEC Searching for Hispanic IT Executives
Hispanic CEO's, CIO's, VP's, directors and partners sought after by new executive group
DETROIT-The Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) today announced its national search for Hispanic IT executives to join its budding organization, which is focused on advancing the roles of Hispanics in information technology. Hispanic IT executives including CEO's, CIO's, VP's, directors and partners are encouraged to become members.
HITEC aims to provide its executive members with professional development and networking opportunities to help them become future leaders with the IT industry. These benefits include, but are not limited to the following:
- Access to education and executive training
- Access to industry leaders and role models
- Exposure to a diverse group of industry speakers (e.g., IBM, Microsoft, Gartner, CIO magazine, Oracle, etc.)
- Access to insider industry knowledge
- Mentoring by world class IT executives
HITEC will also serve as a source for talent to its members by engaging current executives, and promising top-level Hispanic technology managers, in a forum that allows them to share their experiences, develop approaches to fill the pipeline, and increase the presence of Hispanic IT managers in executive circles.
"Today in our global economy, IT executives require a mix of business, technology, leadership, political and relationship building skills to be successful and to be seen as an integral part of the executive team," said David Olivencia, President of HITEC and Director at Oracle. "We strongly believe that HITEC will provide these skills to our members and serve as the difference maker in helping them achieve higher levels in the executive ranks of information technology."
Membership requirements are as follows:
- Senior IT executive (director level or above) at a Fortune 500 firm
- IT executive of a medium-size firm or division (revenues under $1 billion)
- Partner or executive in a major IT consulting firm
- Owner of an IT company (revenues above $5 million)
- Senior IT executive of a governmental or educational institution

For 2007, there is no cost to join HITEC. Meeting will be hosted in various locations across the U.S. (including Detroit, Chicago, New York). For more information about membership and the organization itself, visit www.hitecglobal.org.
