DETROIT-On October 9, David Olivencia, president of the Hispanic Information Technology Executive Council (HITEC), through the Detroit Economic Club hosted a meeting with area Hispanic youth that featured U.S. Senator and current Presidential candidate, John McCain.

Taking place at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center, more than 20 students from Detroit's Western International and Cesar Chavez high schools were in attendance to hear Senator McCain discuss the importance of civic pride, leadership, technology, and education.

"This event was a great opportunity for our inner city youth to gain exposure to national leaders and strong role models," said Olivencia. "I am honored and delighted to have had the pleasure of connecting them to such a prominent and dynamic leader in Sen. McCain."

Olivencia was also sure to encourage the youth in attendance about seeking out future careers in the growing field of information technology and Management Information Systems.

"The overall response of these young men and women was phenomenal," Olivencia added. "These kids were inspired to lead and achieve great things such as going to college and giving back to the community."
