DETROIT, June 15, 2009—Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) Vice Chairman David H. Segura and his Fast-growth IT staffing and solutions firm VisionIT is featured as part of BusinessWeek Small Biz’s cover story for its June-July issue scheduled to hit news stands this week.

Segura and VisionIT is being highlighted in the magazine’s current issue due to the Initiative for Competitive Inner City (ICIC) recently awarding the IT staffing, managed services and vendor management firm as the fastest-growing company on its annual Inner City 100 list.

In the cover story written by BusinessWeek reporter Jeremy Quittner titled “Inner City 100: True Grit,” Segura, who is a Mexican-American, shares his thoughts about the importance of creating a diverse work environment and increasing the number of career opportunities in the IT field for Hispanics and other minorities.

“…The future of U.S. business is creating truly diverse organizations…Those who make their businesses centers of excellence, who know how to grow talent from all different backgrounds, age groups and ethnicities will drive economy for the 50 years….”

"David has done a phenomenal job taking Vision IT through some tremendous growth and positioning it for future growth,” said HITEC President David Olivencia. “His leadership as a co-founder and current board member of HITEC has been equally impressive. We have benefited through from leadership, passion, and technology vision.”

He is one example of the nearly 100 IT Executives, CIOs, and Technology CEOs within HITEC who are demonstrating breakthrough leadership and impressive results within their companies and executive teams. Our members are helping their companies get more access into the 1Trillion dollar domestic Hispanic Market and multi-trillion Markets across the Americas.”

In the feature article Quittner highlights the successful growth pattern of VisionIT; he writes:

“…Segura’s technology consulting firm, VisionIT, grew 1,591% over five years as he took advantage of his big-company’s clients’ desire to shed a proliferation of IT contactors in favor of a few such as his own, that could promise global reach and cost savings…”

…VisionIT has a five-year compound annual growth rate of 103% through 2007. It had 2008 revenues of $103 million and is expecting revenue to jump an additional 30% this year…”

ICIC is a national not-for-profit organization founded in 1994 by Harvard Business School Professor Michael E. Porter. In 1999, ICIC created the Inner City 100 program to change perceptions about inner city business by showing the nation the advantages of inner cities. The Inner City 100 ranks the fast-growing, competitive companies located in America’s inner cities.

2009 marks the fifth time VisionIT made the list, but the first time it reached the number one spot on the prestigious list. About the Hispanic IT Executive Council
HITEC (Hispanic IT Executive Council) was founded by senior Hispanic IT executives who have built outstanding careers in information technology but realized that there are far too few Hispanics in the IT leadership role. With a strong desire and passion to make an impact within the Hispanic IT community by helping others reach the highest levels, HITEC was formed in late 2006. These national leaders include executives leading Fortune 500 corporations on both U.S. and global initiatives while others lead some of the largest Hispanic owned IT firms in the United States.
