09-01-09:HITEC Board Member is named Deputy CIO for NYC Department of Education

 

Alejandro Mainetto was named in March 2009 Deputy Chief Information Officer for NYC Department of Education, where he leads the Software Development organization for the largest school district in the United States, the largest educational operation in the world and the largest public sector agency in New York City. The NYC Department of Education is a $21B agency with more than 140,000 employees, responsible for educating 1.2 million students across more than 1500 schools.

 

Mainetto is currently leading the transformation of an organization of more than 220 people responsible for designing, architecting, developing and implementing leading edge technology solutions across more than seven business units, central administrative offices and schools.

 

"I am very proud of the great work that I have been able to lead and achieve in the last 9 months, where we have reorganized the group to be more business aligned, focused on service delivery and operational excellence and with the renewed capability to take on some of the most advanced and innovative initiatives across any K-12 school district." said Mainetto.

 

HITEC is extremely proud of Alejandro as he has proven to be one of the most insightful and contributing members to the organization since its inception in 2007.
