DETROIT, January 8, 2010 - Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) announces that Andres Mendes is new Chief Information Officer for Voice of America. Mendes previously held the CIO positions with the Special Olympics and before that PBS.
Voice of America first hit the airwaves 68 years ago and is a multimedia international broadcasting service funded by the United States Government through the Broadcasting Board of Governors. They broadcast around 1,500 hours of news, information, educational, and cultural programming every week to an estimated 125 million people worldwide.
Mendes as CIO is responsible for technology leadership for all of the US government TV, Radio and Internet distribution abroad.
About the Hispanic IT Executive Council:
HITEC (Hispanic IT Executive Council) was founded by senior Hispanic IT executives who have built outstanding careers in information technology but realized that there are far too few Hispanics in the IT leadership role. With a strong desire and passion to make an impact within the Hispanic IT community by helping others reach the highest levels, HITEC was formed in late 2006. These national leaders include executives leading Fortune 500 corporations on both U.S. and global initiatives while others lead some of the largest Hispanic owned IT firms in the United States.
