5-5-07: HITEC President Celebrates Cinco de Mayo at White House

Washington DC.- The Hispanic IT Executive Council's (HITEC) president, David Olivencia was part of a select group of international guests who were invited to participate in President George W. Bush's Cinco de Mayo celebration held at the White House on May 4th, 2007. The event featured a speech by the President discussing significance of Cinco de Mayo and the impact of Hispanics in the United States. The event also had a memorable performance by a first class Mariachi band on the White House lawn.

"It was truly an honor to represent HITEC at the White House in celebration of Cinco de Mayo along side of many esteemed leaders from around the world," said Olivencia. "I had the opportunity to meet great leaders such as Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez and Emilio Estefan, while sharing the mission and vision of HITEC with many present."

"Information Technology continues to be a vital and more strategic part of every organization," Olivencia added. "As these leaders and organizations look to find the best leaders to fill their boards and C-suites, it is important that they look to HITEC and our many outstanding business and technology leaders as a resource to help them better compete in our diverse global economy."

About HITECHITEC
(Hispanic IT Executive Council) was founded by senior Hispanic IT executives who have built outstanding careers in information technology but realized that there were far too few Hispanics in the IT leadership role. With a strong desire and passion to make an impact within the Hispanic IT community by helping others reach the highest levels, HITEC was formed in late 2006. These national leaders include executives leading Fortune 500 corporations on both U.S. and global initiatives while others lead some of the largest Hispanic owned IT firms in the United States.
