Yamilet Torres Elected to HITEC Board of Directors

Nov 3, 2010-Yamilet Torres, Senior Director of Customer Services Management at Oracle, has been elected to join the elite executives on the HITEC Board of Directors. Yamilet is a driven professional who has over 21 years of progressive experience in the computer software industry, including service delivery, sales and operations.

She has been at Oracle for 15 years where she has led transformational changes such as Telephone to Internet Support Services as well as organizational changes from regional to functional models. Currently she is responsible for Oracle’s largest and most strategic Healthcare and Insurance customers in North America.

During this time, she has also managed Oracle Support Services in Latin America and was responsible for customer satisfaction in over 12 countries and three languages in South and Central America. "I loved being able to work with the different cultures in Latin America. Each country has a unique, interesting and rich culture” said Yamilet Torres.

Yamilet has also a strong commitment for women in IT. She believes that exemplary female leadership will help women in information technology to be more assertive in this field and break the cultural norms.

Prior to joining Oracle, Yamilet worked in a variety of computer networks and engineering roles including managing and supporting NASA's Wide Area Networks. She has an M.B.A. from Florida Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Rollins College.

Yamilet joined HITEC in early 2010 and was actively assisting with events and contributing ideas to the organization. As a result of her career accomplishments, international business expertise, and for efforts with HITEC, she was named Events Chair and soon after elected to the Board of Directors.
