HITEC President Named 101 Most Influential Latinos by Latino Leaders Magazine

HITEC’s President Andre Arbelaez was named to Latino Leader Magazine’s 101 most influential Latinos in the country for 2015 in their February / March publication. Arbelaez was honored with the recognition in a luncheon roundtable discussion held by the publication in Washington, D.C. on November, 2015. The exclusive roundtable gathered 12 of the most distinguished leaders from the list. Arbelaez was in good company with other guests such as Lupe Valdez, Sheriff of Dallas County, Texas, Charles P. Garcia, CEO of ALPFA, Jose Antonio-Tijerino, President & CEO of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and Lisette Garcia, representing HACR.

At the luncheon, the leaders all agreed that in addition to serving as role models, actions and facts matter in promoting and catapulting Latino leadership. ” We are very fragmented. Every time we do an event sometimes I’m the only Latino to attend. We have to tell that story and we have to constantly support each other.” President Arbelaez is quoted as saying during the event.

The list is in its second year and important to the magazine. Latino Leaders’ publisher Jorge Ferraez says, “we have this thesis: if we create more leaders and we promote leaders to become successful, then the Latino community will become successful itself.”
